Dahlias grown from seeds are not clones of their parent plants, unlike a tuber.
Although some will inherit characteristics of their parents, others will vary greatly. It really is an unknown! No two plants will be the same, and to me that is the part of the fun in growing dahlias from seed. It’s like a lucky dip. You may be fortunate to grow the next ‘darling’ of the dahlia world. A dahlia grown from seed will by the end of its first season produce tubers.
All of these dahlias have been grown from seeds.
